The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 389 is an award winning class leader.

Designed by Marc Lombard, the French Naval architect, her modern hard chine hull make her fast and smooth riding in any conditions giving her a CE category A rating.

The Sun Odyssey 389 comes with 3 keel options.

Standard Deep Fin – 1.95m with bulb to give maximum heel resistance and grip coupled with single blade rudder she is easy to handle.

Shoal Draft Keel – Drawing just 1.5m is a revelation in hydrodynamic design.

Shoal 1Wings on each side of the bulb create a force through the water under way that provides additional resistance to heeling.

Twin splayed rudders also improve grip making the shoal version performance unrivalled in class.

 

 

Lift Fin Keel – The lift fin keel like the shoal draft boat has twin rudders improving grip and making steering extremely responsive.

The ballast box forged in cast iron has wings improving resistance to heeling but also providing a wider base if drying out drawing just 1.10m with the keel up and 2.25m down.  This option will provide a perfect solution for people sailing in shallow water.

 

 

There are also options for the 389 main sail, either a batten mainsail with lazy jacks or an in-mast furling.  The standard Genoa is 132% giving an area of 35 m2  exactly matching the mainsail.

There is also a self tacking jib option of 23.2 m2 for easy handling in confined or busy sailing areas.

    Walk through the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 389

    The cockpit is accessed via the stern bathing platform (optional extra) that is the full width of the stern making it the largest in her class.  With a bathing ladder built into the platform it makes safer and easier access from the sea or a tender.

    Twin wheel steering, large cockpit table and Harken self tailing winches right back at the helm are trade marks of the Sun Odyssey range.

    Life raft locker, lazerette and cockpit lockers comfortably take care of fenders, lines and all boats equipment.

    Folding companionway doors provide access below via shallow steps.

    Once below the large hull ports and hatches flood the cabin in natural light.

    The white hull and head linings add to the bright feel while the rich teak finish wood add warmth and quality to the feel of the interior.  The saloon provides a fantastic living space, large hull ports and hatches give a view of the sea when seated.  The saloon table has an option to make a berth, or there is the luxury table option with wine storage and folding leaves which allows the settee to port to also be used for dinning making space for 8 people in comfort.

    LED lighting throughout the boat, shore power and 12 v charging sockets in each cabin complete the quality living space.

    To starboard the L shaped galley has no less than 12 cupboards and draws.

    Twin stainless steel sinks with covers, a 45 litre refrigerator and gimballed cooker with oven complete this superb galley.

     

     

    The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 389 is available as a two cabin or a three cabin version.

    Each version have good sized doubles with quality mattresses, good wardrobes and shelf storage.

    The boat has a large heads compartment with holding tank and shower with electric sump pump.  Storage cupboards, ports and hatches for ventilation combine to make the room both practical and elegant.
